{new painting}

We are flying back to Germany early August so it will be then that I bring over a newly acquired original painting that I purchased from Scottish artist Natasha Morton. It arrived here today and I can't wait to put it in my apartment in Germany, it will fit the color scheme so perfectly.

Latest Pride & Joy

I will most likely place it to the left of the china cabinet... It may be nice there since it's slim and long. I have to be in the space first to know for sure though. Above it is shown here in New Hampshire on my creamy white living room wall, the room that has the blue accent wall. I think I will prefer it in Hannover since my walls there are stark white and I want to introduce some creamy tones to warm up the space a bit.

family day :)

different perspective

And the wood chairs you see above will definitely be painted in August and reupholstered for sure. I also have four chairs now, the green bench is in the entryway. There is a shelf to the left of my table too on the wall. I plan to hang a pendant over the table for candles (non-electric). I plan to go to ABC Carpet & Home in New York in July to buy a few accents, especially an area rug for beneath the table in a mixture of gorgeous colors to warm up the room. I want to wallpaper the interior of the china cabinet, too. I'll finally have time to do it since last year was about simply furnishing the space so that we could live in it and have people over. Now I can start to work on mini projects and have some fun decorating -- especially my bedroom and the dining area! Yay to decorating! (images: holly becker for haus maus)

Hi Holly

I am a decor8 fan and haus maus lurker.

I love the table, are you going to be painting it as well or just the chairs?

Also, so you mind sharing where your living room rug comes from?

Thanks

Sonia

Hi Sonia!

The rug is jute and from IKEA, it's such a great rug and affordable. I will keep the table as is, I bought it this way, it's wood with white-wash and I like it but it may end up in my office someday. :)

What a beautiful painting! Your dining area is just gorgeous. Have you ever considered adding a large, ornate mirror above the table on the far wall? I think a white one (even a thrift store find painted white) would look lovely :)

Lovely Little Nest: Hi honey! Yes, I had a mirror on that wall believe it or not, but my in-laws always came over and complained not liking to "see" themselves as they dined. So I moved it and it ended up over the sofa instead. I definitely want a mirror back over there though, I have a shelf on that wall with art beneath it now but perhaps a long horizontal mirror the width of the table hung higher than last time so as to not scare the in-laws. LOL

Dear Holly, you are just SO talented, it's an endless pleasure to see what you're turning a typical 0815 (you can ask ur hubby what it means ;) German apartment into! A masterpiece created with no more than a couple of Ikea, Car Möbel etc. pieces all put together in a totally smacking way. I'm SO looking forward to what's gonna be happening next - and if you need any help on painting those chairs - just let me know :)
