C is for Cookie
I will make no excuses for this indulgence. I just ate two chocolate cookies from Miette for breakfast. This is the stuff that expats dream of after about 6 months into their new life abroad one starts to think about a few of the things they once took for granted. Like really sweet deliciously crunchy cookies that are so very American.
And funny thing is, I was just thinking about crunchy American cookies yesterday and this morning, just as I clicked "send" to confirm an appointment at the fitness center with Lars, my new personal trainer (he is going to to pump {*clap clap*} me up, remember that Hans and Franz skit on SNL?)... the door bell rang and there before me was a package from Jeanine who owns the wonderful textiles company AphroChic with the nicest card ever and a box of Chocolate Wafer cookies from Miette in San Francisco. I quickly forgot about Lars, poured the largest glass of 1.5% milk ever, and indulged. Thank you Jeanine for the sweet gesture ever, I could just kiss you! Especially lovely for an expat no longer living in the states. And sorry Lars. American cookies always win.
