C is for Cookie

I will make no excuses for this indulgence. I just ate two chocolate cookies from Miette for breakfast. This is the stuff that expats dream of after about 6 months into their new life abroad one starts to think about a few of the things they once took for granted. Like really sweet deliciously crunchy cookies that are so very American.

C is for Cookie

And funny thing is, I was just thinking about crunchy American cookies yesterday and this morning, just as I clicked "send" to confirm an appointment at the fitness center with Lars, my new personal trainer (he is going to to pump {*clap clap*} me up, remember that Hans and Franz skit on SNL?)... the door bell rang and there before me was a package from Jeanine who owns the wonderful textiles company AphroChic with the nicest card ever and a box of Chocolate Wafer cookies from Miette in San Francisco. I quickly forgot about Lars, poured the largest glass of 1.5% milk ever, and indulged. Thank you Jeanine for the sweet gesture ever, I could just kiss you! Especially lovely for an expat no longer living in the states. And sorry Lars. American cookies always win.

Oh thank you, I just love these glasses too. They have birds and little puffy white clouds on them and they come with white cloud swizzle sticks for stirring your drink in case you make a cocktail or fruity drink. :) I cannot remember who makes them, it is a German glassware company, but I bought them at Kaufhof. http://www.galeria-kaufhof.de

Ahhh, I work just a few blocks from Miette and we served their cupcakes at our wedding. I'd be happy to send you some any time- as they are my favorite too. Love seeing that a piece of SF can brighten your day in Germany!! Keeping my fingers crossed on your house hunt. I love hearing about it.

did you know the word Cookie comes from the dutch word Koekjes? You pronounce the oe the same as your english oo so you can imagine how much similar they hear.

I read about it some days ago in another blog and the main things that you mention here are very similar
