{feeling artsy}
i had big plans today and you know what? i did not execute. i was not a very good project manager of my life today. ever have that kind of day? but i did go see the Persian rug dealer and found a great rug for 700,- Euro but the problem was the size -- double the size I need. :( so now i will start looking online since the only other store were i found vintage kilims is a place called looms (here in hannover) but i do not like the colorways that they have. i'm not going to spend a lot of money on something i do not truly drool for. what's the point? so i will be picky because i can damn it! :)
here is some art + swallows that i put up rather quickly today because i got sick of art laying on the floor and leaning against the walls. i felt impatient about it, somewhat annoyed that i hadn't hung them yet, so i grabbed a hammer and didn't bother to think about placement or anything -- i literally started hammering where i pleased and finished this job in less than 10 minutes. funny how it worked out so well... i like the results very much! i even saved a spot for additional art (just above the flowers), i'm thinking of an original painting or some of my husband's photographs. i also like that i can change the prints in these frames anytime the mood strikes me, if i get sick of something i can just pop in a new print from etsy or dawanda or any of the other great online indie stores. heaven.
about the art and birds... i packed these things before i came to germany -- the swallows are vintage from a flea market in hollis, new hampshire where i live. i've had them for 4 years in a drawer and before i came to germany i packed them because i knew that they'd remind me of hollis when i look at them and my life there. also because these birdies are going places and that is how my husband and i live our life, flying back and forth between countries and always on the go. and well, i like them. they are kitschy, like you KNOW someone has a grandmother somewhere with these still on her wall.
so i listened to all of you about not painting the frames... see i pay attention to your comments. but i do have to add something personal here so i will paint the birds primary yellow. i thought about black but that may be a bit to strong... i think yellow is perfect for them so stay tuned... plus it will warm up the wall and bring out some of the colors in the art. yes, yellow it is.
where's my paint anyway... hmmmm... maybe i will just paint them now. :)

P.S. I think the yellow will be fab. :)
I'm going to have to try that method next time! It looks great.
BTW I always hang my art like that.
Have a nice Sunday.
Bye,
Marianne.
you said ... "so i listened to all of you about not painting the frames... see i pay attention to your comments."
If it was me... I'd play with the mats around the artwork. A little pet peeve of mine. White/light mats on a white/light wall irritate me, I don't know why, they just do. So even though I stick to neutral frames I always replace the mats with a colour or two from the artwork.
Just my 2cents worth.
