{Hallway Take Two}

Okay so I want to quickly show you my new table from Octopus (came last week) and the two chairs from Car Moebel that I've now unpacked.
(room is a complete mess, i'm moving furniture all day today and cleaning)
(mirror is not in final position, i just needed to get it out of the way. planning to hang it over the sofa. china cabinet is crammed with everything from my kitchen until the shelves are installed over the sink.) I will reupholster the seats and paint them either glossy gray, white, plum (fun!), or I may paint them white and paint the centers (where the decorative part is) a pretty color (or two) to make them more visually appealing. I love these chairs. I only ordered two because I was going to put a bench along the wall and the chairs on the other side but it looked all wrong due to the dimensions of the space (it's a living room/dining room combo) so the bench is now in my hallway! :) I just ordered two more chairs so now I'll have a set of 4 for this table.
(with cushions)
(with cushions stacked, room for plants)
Yay! I like this a little better... I love the shade of green on this bench and the wrought iron base... It's pretty and I can 'Fall' it up by adding the cushions and 'Spring' it up by stacking them into a new pile and adding plants and flowers. Inside of the tins I've stored shoe polish, paperwork, one is a sewing box, etc. I'm REALLY happy with this hallway. xo, Holly

I have serious front hall envy, it looks beautiful, nice job Holly. Also, do you have any ideas of where a good place to get an armoire would be? I'm having a hard time finding something that's not IKEA (already have one) and something that's not too expensive. Any suggestions welcome.
Your hallway looks lovely! It already has a 'lived-in' look. I love those chairs too and can't wait to see how you transform them.

Wow Holly, it looks great! I love seeing the progress. I just moved to a new apartment, and while I don't have the budget nor the freedom (thanks to living with a roomie!), to do everything I want, I'm still very inspired by your new home!

Your hallway looks gorgeous, very inspiring! I really like the bench and your idea to change the look of it depending on the seasons.
Wow Holly, it's all coming together so nicely and really looks lovely.

I'm really wanting to move into a new space and start from scratch, I think it would be SO fun!

Love the hall bench! And those cushions- is that the plum that you are thinking of for your DR chairs? I would go for it!

I love the color of your big hallway mirror.

I have a mirror from Home Depot or maybe Lowe's (of all places!) that is almost identical in form. It's in my bathroom and is perfect for my dual vanity.

Love seeing the progress; it must feel so good to turn the place into a real home!

Those dining chairs are lovely! And I love your hall! The silver embossed boxes are fantastic!
I do love that table. The entire hallway is just great. Um. I'm kinda mesmerized by the purse. That's the color I've been looking for. Any hints on where you got that?

It looks absolutely amazing. You're making me want to turn my whole apartment plum!!!

The mirrors are astonishing. The one is the hallway is a wonderful idea.

I love this post. I have some questions. What do you keep in the silver boxes under the bench? Do you have a close-up pic of the pillows on your couch? what's going on the wall opposite what you showed?

First I have to say that I really like your blog and the way you decorate your home! :)
And now I have a question: where is the chain of lights over the mirror from?
Best greetings from Kati

Hi Holly!
Your home looks absolutely amazing and beautiful! Where did you get that table? It's so cute! I've been looking for one just like yours for weeks now! The chairs are so beautiful!

Oh I simply had to de-lurk long enough, your blog has become my favorite daily indulgence :)

And I love your hallway!

I'm just dipping my toes in the whole decorating lark and I'm all about gray and lilac, pale blue and green of late... although from what I have gathered from your posts I'm not alone, its like a virus going around :)

Anyhow, I really love what you are doing with your flat...
Greetings from your European neighbor in Croatia :)

Shashi - I'm not sure what country you live in but a wood piece from IKEA is great because you can customize it with different knobs and paint colors, wallpaper the drawers inside (or the drawer fronts), even stencil or print on the outside or the top.

Tracy - Yes, I'm considering plum for my chairs in the living room, but I may not... I'm still thinking about it! I also have this idea to do each chair a different color. I have to finalize an idea soon!

Laurin - The bag was purchased in Hannover at a shop called Gisy (http://www.schuhfinder.de) the brand of the bag is Liebeskind Berlin.

Ann - In the boxes I keep shoe polish, lint brush, a mini sewing kit, extra mittens, socks for guests, etc. Sure I can take a photo of the pillows on my sofa for you. Be on the look out for those next week. :) Once I get the living room in place I'll photograph the whole thing.

Kati - The lights over the mirror are from a local shop, they didn't come with a box or anything so I don't know the brand, I'm sorry!

Anon - The table is from Octopus in Hamburg.

I hope I've answered everyone's questions. If I missed yours, please just chime in to this discussion and ask again. :)

Holly:

Everything looks wonderful. I love the colors and the well edited mix of pieces. I think you've inspired me to spruce up our back entry way this weekend. :)

I know it's temporary, but I like the mirror at the end of the table. Hope you enjoying a nice weekend in your newly furnished home. ~Suzanne

I love to see how your place is becoming a home with all those nice things you found. What I like best is that you found most of it in Germany which means these shops are available for me (living in Hamburg) as well. It’s quite frustrating to see lovely things from overseas most of the time, either they don’t ship to Germany at all or the shipping fees are way too expensive to really buy something. I really like your silver color boxes in the hall and already tried to find something similar at “Le Marrakech” in Hamburg (a shop with Moroccan accessories and furniture you might like) but without any luck. So I would be quite happy if you remember the name of the shop where you purchased them as Hannover is not too far from here.
Oh, Holly! Everything looks so great! I am so excited for you! I loooove that table and think your ideas sound wonderful. Whatever you decide! Also, I couldn't help but think of you when I went into the Madewell shop yesterday and saw flat boots with a great little detail in a lovely plum/cordovan color. Weren't you looking for some? Anyway, they maybe all wrong but, just in case I thought I would pass it along! :)
Hope you are having so much fun in your beautiful home! YAY!~

This is kind of random, but where'd you get the bench that ended up in your front hall? I just love it and have been trying to find a good combo to go with my pretty traditional dining table to make it less stuffy. I think something like that would be perfect!

holly! welcome to germany!

just spent an afternoon break from gardening and cleaning house and finally spending and enjoying a day at home with a cup of coffee and flickering through your blog...

its been too long since i've spent time getting caught up on blogs and readings and seeing what everyone is up too...

but it looks like you're definitely making germany home.

alright though... i simply have to ask. where did you get the garderobe for the coats? i've been looking and looking for one just like that and not finding what i want... in white.

and if you tell me it's ikea, i'll scream... because i could have sworn they had something like that (maybe once upon a time) and yet this poor little heart just can't find what she's looking for...

hope you have a lovely sunday!

ange.
