{so inspired}

my swedish friend emma is so very resourceful and has amazing taste. she also seems to really 'get' my taste because she sent me this image today as inspiration for my kitchen. yes emma you hit my vision exactly for the left wall (minus the sink). open shelves above a counter space. this is really great, i love seeing something that i had imagined in my head. thank you emma!

Oh I love it...I know what you mean...wonderful to see your idea on paper. Are you going to do all white dishes, or are you thinking more color?

I'm redoing my kitchen right now too, and this is exactly the look I am going for. I wish I could have lots of open shelving, but I live in CA where there are earthquakes! There are lots of kitchens in similar styles in the jeu de paumes books, in particular the stockholm ones. They have been a huge inspiration for me so far. :)

Hi Holly!

I'm glad I came by your new blog. Your friend emma does have amazing taste. And so do you! {possibly a dangerous thing to say, but if I have a successful art show - I'm planning on a kitchen makeover. Oh, the benches now - just BLERGH green}

Love this open shelf look. It is what I plan to go for - will open up the space so much more than looming overhead cupboards - and of course it's a fantastic excuse to buy some new display-worthy items!

I can't wait to see how everything goes - BEST OF LUCK!!!

...And a MASSIVE thankyou for adding me in your Aussie blogs list. I've got some new readers that would probably have never found me otherwise. So thanks, and thanks :)

I am also decorating my kitchen/dining room..a very small place...with ceramic floor..what do you think of using rugs in this area of the house? I want to make the place more cozy.

I love your blog because i am living more or less the same new house experience !!

Good luck!

i love the look of open shelves, but here's my reality:
I have them in our kitchen, and anytime I want to use something from the shelves near the stove, I have to wash off the thin layer of cooking grease first. Gross, but reality. The shelves further away from the stove don't get greasy, but they sure do get dusty!

Just a thought...
Oooh, I'm so glad you liked it! And a big thanks and lots of hugs for posting it here together with my link!

xo,
emma
