{kitchen: starting point}

since i just prepared lunch and cleaned my current kitchen, i guess i'll start with this space since i have kitchens on the brain now. :) plus i need a launch point. my ideas are hopping around from one room to the next and i can't seem to organize them all (so many!) unless i take it one room at a time. this is something you learn right away in interior design school, to never allow a client to convince you to design more than one room at a time. i did this a few years ago, i designed a client's dining room, entry, and living room in one full sweep. it came out nice, but i regret it to this day because i went against my own voice. it never feels good to go against your own grain, ya know? so to prove that i learned my lesson, i need to tackle one room at a time. you may be surprised to know that kitchens are my least favorites to decorate. i get a feeling that a lot of people feel this way because how many home tours do you see on blogs where the homeowner actually includes the kitchen (or bath for that matter)? i love to eat so what's the deal?
