Farmers' Market Loot

This morning I visited the weekly farmers' market and today was especially a treat since the sun was shining, birds were chirpin', and smiles were on the faces of all - spring is coming!

Loot

I picked up some tulips, bread, cheese, flowering branches, a bread basket with pretty ceramic handles and a little wood doll (isn't she cute?). I wonder if she is purely decorative or meant to serve some purpose in the kitchen? Do you know? She was in a basket with others like her, in blue and green, for only 1, Euro!

What a beautiful week we've had... I can't wait to arrange my flowers and prepare our fish and white asparagus for supper.

oh, I am glad for you! here in Munich is still such a winter weather! I just don't want to wear my boots anymore!
I hope spring comes soon for us also..
No idea if your basket has a special purpose in the kitchen, but its really cute, and a bargain for 1 Euro!

Sounds like such a charming day! Enjoy it! The sun's been out here in Toronto for a while as well now, it's so uplifting. What beautiful flowers you got :)

What a beautiful basket. Very unusual.

I have never been to Hannover, but I can say that here in Munich spring is beyond fabulous - the flower stands, the bikes, the people lazing around on the river, the gradual and then sudden explosion of green. Growing up with the L.A. 'monoseason', each glorious onset of spring still strikes me as a mini-miracle.
these are gorgeous, what a great morning you had, a your photo is stunning!
Ah spring, we are beginning to feel it in Denmark too, but we are not quite there yet. What a cute doll, is it a Kokeshi doll maybe?

Oh, yum! You found white asparagus already? I look forward to "Spargelzeit" every year, but for me my favorite is the classic way with Schinken & Hollandaise sauce.

Beautiful goodies you picked up... enjoy!
What a lovely bunch of flowers..... I think I have to get myself one too!
All the best,
Silke

I think the little lady has one important purpose: Make you smile! She really is cute!
Spring is in the air here in Ireland too, it is great to get up in the morning to the sun shining in the windows and seeing red skies in the evening. Looks like you had a lovely time at the market, I adore the wee doll so pretty and oriental. The basket is very pretty too is that a wedgewood willow pattern? Wish we had nice markets like that here. The daffodils haven't started to bloom here yet, hopefully soon.

All things nice...

I'm relieved to know spring is making its way to Hannover. It's going to be hard for me to leave my favorite time of year in the U.S. behind. I've heard of white asparagus season but not experienced it yet. Enjoy!
How wonderful! I so hope I can find a market in Copenhagen! We discovered white asparagus in Spain and absolutely LOVE it! We like to drizzle a little olive oil over it, sprinkle on a little lemon pepper and then grill it. How do you make yours?

What beautiful flowers. It is still quite cold here and all of the tulips, crocuses, and daffodils I planted are just showing there tips. It is a tease of spring to come. Thanks for sharing your morning and reminding me.

love the new looks!! great!
It sounds like you had a great time at the farmers market. I love the bread basket. I married a german and I miss visiting germany. I loved it over there. Yes there laws are quite different. You will find the right apartment again. They say things happen for a reason, so maybe the flat you turned down wasn't the right one for you. I wish you all the best, and I'm glad your enjoying Germany.

Love the new look. Guess it was time for a change. We (in Alaska) are still months away from our farmers markets, so it's always nice to see what you come home with.

Oh how I wish I had fresh flowers near me! The nearest to buy is in Melbourne (an hour and half away) and my garden isn't anything special at the moment.

gorgeous! I plan to pick up some flowering branches as soon as we get back to the states. :)

Just spent a half hour catching up here. I have been SO busy. Hate that!

Hope you are well.
Lovely image of your finds!

I have a similar dolly, but she has a thin sheet of paper wrapped around her tummy that is very long, we unwrap it and have guests sign in every time we have new visitors over. I don't know if that was her original purpose, but that is what I thought of when I saw her since mine looks very much like her. Either way, she is too sweet.

Sweet finds! Your little doll looks like a Japanese kokeshi (they are sometimes made to resemble people from other countries/cultures--I used to collect them, and I have one that is fairly similar to yours).
