I love the markets here this time of year. I've been drinking hot mulled wine every single night this week. i'm bound to turn into an alcoholic if i keep this up. ;) no, not really but it sure is fun to congregate outdoors with hundreds of people huddled together for warmth sipping on hot boozy drinks. bliss. Weinhaus Rehwinkel on the Lister Meile is where we hang out in case you're in the neighborhood. I'll be there tonight.

and we won't even get into the candy and gingerbread here, and of course the cakes and crepes and candied (hot) nuts. we leave for america next week (18th) and won't return here until May 23 (wahhh) so i'm trying to fit in all the social events, shopping, candied nuts, and hot wine that i can in 7 days. this is one of those postcard moments when i can truly say to all of you... Wish You Were Here. (image from holly becker, photographed in hannover, germany, 2008)

Oh as long as you steer clear from the sausages :)

Had a nasty incident involving a dodgy sausage a few years ago at a Christmas market here in Zagreb... my stomach still heaves at the mere thought :)

And I make a mean mulled wine, if you are ever in the neighborhood... :)

I do hope you will keep updating haus maus I really LOVE what you did with your apartment, it looks like such a cozy (and pretty!) place.

Have fun for the rest of your stay and both you and your husband have a safe trip back :)
Ooh, are you drinking glögg? :) My friend is hosting her annual glögg party this weekend, so I will have some mulled wine too! Thank you for giving us a glimpse of Germany!

What a delicious shop! I want to visit Germany so badly. My grandparents both came to America from Germany so I am half German and my family went to Germany when I was 4, but like I remember it. Maybe someday I will get to go again... and hopefully around the holidays!

Holly,

It will be very interesting for all concerned to see how you fare getting back into the US on a German passport. Even as an EU citizen, there's still a lot of hassle to get through - now you can see how the rest of us manage.

Christmas time was the only time I was homesick for Europe when I lived in the States. Nothing can put me in the Christmas mood like those Christmas markets...

Hi Holly
those sweets look amazing. just wanted to say how nice it was seeing round your place in New Hampshire on your earlier post,i love the colors and little groups of favourite things, you do it all so beautifully. Do you ever follow feng shui rules, or just go by your instinct as to where to place things?
have a safe trip honey, love Kat x

Hi Holly,

Oh no, I missed you again - that day I was visiting the Christmas market in Hameln!
I will miss your updates on my neighborhood, I enjoyed it so much seeing it through your eyes.

Have a safe trip back to the US, I look forward to your blogging from New Hampshire and can't wait till the Hannover stories begin again.
