Stadthallengarten + Sensa

I'm so glad that it's the weekend, and a beautiful weekend it is! Today we walked about 5 miles, maybe more, and it was so much fun! We went everywhere... the weather was so beautiful that there was no way I was going to stay indoors. :) One part of the day that I really enjoyed was to relax at the Stadthallengarten which was lovely -- all of the magnolias are in bloom and so beautiful and the air was filled with a lovely, soft scent. If you live in Hannover and haven't visited yet this year it's a great time to go as everything is starting to bloom. I imagine by Wednesday the entire garden will be filled with beautiful things to admire!

There is a cafe there, a Japanese tea garden and lots of flowers and trees and open space for relaxing... you can bring a blanket and lay on the law, sit on park benches, or use the many lawn chairs that they provide at no charge to relax on. What a lovely, lovely place! Would you like to tour it for a moment? If so, you may take a virtual tour here. It's quite nice - though in person much nicer as nature is never the same when shared on a flat screen! But it's a nice way for you to see where I spent most of my afternoon. We also went through the forest and spent a few hours in there walking around -- it was a very nice, nature-filled day. And I needed this very much as hearing the birds, seeing the green forest, feeling the fresh air and warm sunshine... it's all very restorative.

I had to run to the market today and was surprised to find Sensa magazine -- which is new in Germany, because my friend Jana who does some styling to Sensa in Serbia had sent me a copy from there last year. When I saw it I thought, "Oh this would be a great magazine for Germans!" because of the focus being on wellness which is so important here - healthy lifestyle and a connection to nature. And now I find it here on the newsstand, in German, with "Neu!" on the front -- meaning "New!" so I guess someone read my mind. It's a really nice health + wellness magazine... if you're in Germany and can read the language I suggest picking up a copy.

Have a nice weekend... I have some plans this evening but tomorrow is MY DAY. I will relax with my stack of 7 fresh new magazines to read, a pot of Kusmi Detox Tea, some music and a hot bath in the morning followed by a sauna at the gym. :)

We spent the whole day outdoors, too (as did our laundry, lol). The sun is delish, hm? =) We biked up and down the riverside, hit up a market, and chilled at our new favorite cafe.

Interesting magazine - I'll have to check it out. I just joined a new gym this month and it's making all the difference; another new year's goal finally coming to fruition! However, I'm just not able to get into the whole sauna culture for some reason. My gym comes with a pretty sweet 'saunabereich' w/over 7 different saunas, but I get so bored sitting in there. My husband says it's a sign I need to sit in there more often, lol.

Happy weekend!

I feel so behind! I cannot believe how time consuming moving to another country can be, but I'm sure you understand! I love your new chevron pillows and SO excited to hear about Anthropologie. Do you guys have an Urban Outfitters? There is one in Copenhagen and it is quite big with two stories! It was mostly clothes, though.

Oh, and your post about people just using you. I've thought about that a lot. It doesn't surprise me one bit. It's sad, but many people are just looking out for themselves. Thankfully not everyone is like that and they are the ones that make it worthwhile.

Well, anyways! I hope you have a great weekend!

I'm also an american and married to a bavarian! Moved to Germany about 2 1/2 years ago. Live near Traunstein and Chieming...gotta love the Chiemsee! We renovated my husband's bauernhof he inherited last year and gave birth about 2 years ago to my daughter Feli. You could say moving here and managing all I did so far was no piece of cake! LOL I studied fashion design in Texas and am currently finishing my bachelors in Psychology (online studies...thank God for the internet!!!) Anyway, just wanted to say you have a new reader and lover of germany and design in your midst...
Alles gute!

I also spent the whole weekend outside - running, swimming, hike - and am a different, better person for it! Nothing like breathing in fresh air in the woods to make one feel calm. Here's to sunshine and summer!

Hope your weekend was enjoyable. I love springs!
Sensa looks amazing. I wish I could get my hands on the Serbian copy, it would help me remember the language. Barnes & Noble (or was it Borders?) used to have a foreign magazine section that I loved but they don't anymore. :(

I haven't seen this magazine and can't read much German yet, but I'm going to look for it.

Hope you enjoyed your day--my husband just bought a large tin of Kusmi Detox tea in Paris a couple of weeks ago, and he's loving it!
