{inspiration folders}

I spent a little time playing the other night while watching one of my favorite films in French with English subs, called Priceless or the French title Hors de prix. I highly recommend the film, by the way. Lovely. So while watching the film I busily cut images from a stack of magazines that I've been reserving for playtime -- a stack of mostly design mags from the U.S. and Germany. I enjoy putting tear sheets and other papers and a tiny dash of ribbon into basic file folders, I've shared my folders with you before if you recall... (see here).

I like how these came out, the colors from blue to lime to tangerine, all really speak to me right now. I especially love the pretty blouses and sweaters shown, they're from American clothing company J.Crew. I love putting these folders together because they make me happy. That's quite simply the best explanation I can come up with. :) (photos: holly becker)

So lovely! I adore your inspiration folders. I like to do that, although I haven't done any lately, but I like to keep clippings of lovely and inspiring images from all my mags.

i love looking at these. so collected and interesting.

i know people tend to just post these around their desks, but have you ever thought about framing them and hanging them as a collection?

i could imagine a formalized grouping like that to look nice in a studio. easily changeable too. you're giving me ideas for my new office...

What a great idea. I often tear pages of images that I like and recycle the rest of the magazine. Pasting together groups of photos with bits of ribbon and papers creates beautiful collages that I could see using as color palettes and inspiration for artwork. Thanks for sharing this I can't wait to arrange all those torn pages I have.

I must see 'Priceless'!

Another colorful French film that was always an inspiration for is 'French Twist' with Spanish actress Victoria Abril.

ever add paint swatches to your collage/idea/files?

I also save pages from magazines for inspiration but unfourtunately don't put them together as nicely as yours! Lovely! I like the spring like colors.

These colors are so yummy. Looks like a bowl of sherbet ice cream.
This are so fresh and beautiful. And I'm with you--Priceless is a lovely film. I was just thinking about watching it again recently and now I'm going to do just that! Thanks for the inspiration.

I love the movie Priceless. I crack up each time I think about the scene in the restaurant when he sees her and pretends to be a guest.
The inspiration folders are a great idea. I end up sticking image in little pocket folders but this is a much better way. I can see how useful the tabs would be for organizing. thanks!

These are so awesome Holly. Question though, do you actually fold these up and file them or do you file them flat? It would seem a shame to have to fold them up.
