{monkey business}

i could not resist showing you this photo. it absolutely made my day because my blog, decor8, is behaving badly so i must take it offline for a few hours while it is being fixed. i felt a bit overwhelmed by it, so i did what i often do while i'm working online and feel taxed, i go to flickr and start looking around at friends' photos. i zone out.

this little monkey was outside of the jain temple in ranakpur, india when he was photographed.

just look at all of that monkey cuteness.

he looks like something leftover from the muppets. puppet-like. maybe on sesame street? look at those long legs and cute paws. and of course, the face, those deep longing eyes as black as coal (gimme your banana, he says). i want to hold him and take him to my apartment. maybe cuddle awhile (and if he is stinky, well i would bathe him in the tub and serve him grapes perhaps?). i imagine he would like to sit on my sofa after his bath. i could dry him with my super duper hair dryer and he'd fluff right up like a giant gray ball. we'd talk about india, watch the lion king, maybe have a handful of the banana chips -- the ones that i love to eat from the bio store.

Haven't you always wanted a monkey? :) Until this photo, honestly, it never crossed my mind either.

Do me a favor. Put on this You Tube video, turn up your speakers...

p.s. When my mother was growing up in Stockholm, the people in the apartment next door to them had a pet monkey. Apparently it was a real terror -- climbing over the balconies, breaking into apartments, etc. She was afraid of it!
You're right. Nothing cheers me up like a cute monkey picture or any cute animal picture really. I have an obsessive love for Cute Overload dot com. Always puts a smile on my face!

I think if he bites you, you have to take Rabies shots. But only 4 of them. :)

I think I remember wanting one way back when a Ellie Mae had one on the Beverly Hillbillies.

Probably a good thing that are hard to find, expensive, or illegal here in the States. Aren't they illegal here as pets? Or you have to have a permit to own one? Will have to look that up.

I think you should name your monkey, Chester. He looks sort of like a Chester.
OMG....look at that cute little floppy thing!
So adorable! And....I love
Peter Gabriel so much, his voice never gets old to me.

hi Holly-
I had to come back to this post. I saw on MSN homepage this morning that a lady was caught smuggling in a monkey in her shirt. . . .

and thought, "I wonder if that was Holly . . . ." HaHa.

Had to click the link, check it out to be sure it was NOT you.

Sorry to hear someone has copied your photo's without permission and for commercial gain. It is one thing to use someone's hobby/art as inspiration but something quite different to blatantly copy and resell. I hope this person withdraws their items for sale and finds an honest way of making a living. Best Wishes. Amanda
