{I Love Car Moebel}

Ready to see some new photos!? Yay! I love sharing these pieces of my life with you, it gives me something to look forward to as I have my online friends waiting to see the progress here at little maus central. Before I show photos I must point out that I really love Car Moebel. I'm been working with this man, David E., and he has been absolutely outstanding in answering my questions through email. What a pleasant transaction. Best part is that I ordered two chairs and they arrived within 10 days and I ordered a piece of furniture for my hallway and a mirror and it was going to not be in until end of October but he worked hard to ensure that I get it earlier -- it was just delivered by truck an hour ago! I'm so pleased. Octopus on the other hand. Yuck. They still have not reimbursed us the money from the broken bed that took them 4 months to deliver, they have been really bad to deal with, and the table I ordered from them arrived but was missing parts so my husband also had to fix THAT. Amazing. So after the nightmare with Octopus (cheap quality, poor service, not fulfilling requests, long waits for items (3-4 months!) etc. etc. etc.), ordering from Car Moebel has been an absolute pleasure. I recommend them highly. Some things take longer to arrive but when you go to place the item in your shopping cart the colored buttons let you know right away the estimated time in which it will take to arrive. This is extremely helpful because you know before you purchase so it's not a big mystery. I ordered a rug from Car Moebel and it was also an easy transaction and arrived within 7 days. After three separate orders at Car Moebel, all being exceptional quality furniture and service (and price), I feel really confident to recommend their service here on my blog. I have two of these chairs, only with white upholstered seats and the wood is natural so I plan to paint them high gloss gray or purple. :) I'll show you when I unpack them. And of course, I will reupholster the seats. I may paint them white and only paint the details in the center of chair back in an actual color, I'm not sure yet. The chairs will go in the dining area. Now to the next items ordered from Car Moebel for the hallway. First I must state that I will put a new pendant in the hall. I really do not like it so I have a paper lampion in mind that resembles the pattern on the pillow. It's also longer and more narrow to fit the dimensions of the hallway. This pendant, in my eyes, is too large for the hall. It needs more 'breathing' room. I guess it's better than the black lightbulb before though. he he. So glamorous!
Hallway before....
I have a new wardrobe/storage bench, rug, and mirror.... The rug was in the bathroom but I'm replacing it with a black one instead.
Hallway now...
I have a single shelf that I may put on the wall below the mirror, I'm still pending on that... and I have a bench that I may place where the shoes are. but for now, since everything just arrived, this is how it looks, the furniture JUST arrived by truck 1 hr ago. ... Now I want to paint the walls or wallpaper! I always do this... I have to 'live' in the rooms and see them come to life then I can decide how and what to do with the walls. I know it's backwards but it's how I have to decorate my personal space. For someone else, I would order the flooring, wallpaper, lighting, etc. first and then add the furniture, etc. But with my own home I do this pretty much the opposite since well, it's MY space and I just do. :) (images from holly becker for haus maus)

Wow! That looks great! It is so fun to watch you put together your new home! Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. Would you also be willing to share the source of those great square silvery boxes? They are so pretty and stack so well - Mary

Hi Mary - Thank you! The tin boxes came from this shop in Hannover, the old town section, do you live in Hannover or nearby? If so I can give you the name of the shop but I have to see if I wrote it down. It's this little random shop that sells imports from Asia. The lady gave me a deal, I have 2 large, 1 medium, and 1 small and I think I paid around 70- Euros for them all. They should have totaled around 100-Euro but she gave me a discount. They are SO nice in this shop. No website though, too bad.
Congratulations on the new furniture. I adore the colour of the wood. It's great to have furniture that is so attractive, but still functional. You've inspired me to finally tackle my hallway (and the pile of shoes)!

You're little "vignettes" are always so darling - and your house is looking cuter with each post!

Holly, I LOVE the pendant! I think big and wide creates interest in this narrow hall by being a little "off"--really more unexpected.
Of course, I can't see it in real life, but the three lines seem to tie the lines on the door glass and follows the trim.

Oh, how nice!! I am in the midst of pulling together my own little pied-a-terre and my process is the same. I finally got my floorplan worked out, window treatments almost finished and now, ideas for the wall color is coming to me. That's OK. :)
Of course, I am really just a DIY type trying to set up my space to be nice. I am having this epiphany that it takes A LOT of practice and effort to decorate. I used to think people like you just somehow had a brilliant master plan. Now I see it is a process. Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Holly, the hallway looks amazing - I'm contemplating putting something similar in my hallway as it has a generally same layout -- nice that it's so compact and isn't huge! In general your apt looks amazing - truly truly amazing! Happy decorating. As for painting walls, i am the same way as you. I need to see how the furniture fits... before i take that leap. i just did my living room walls -- light soft grey -- looks amazing!

Wow! Thanks for this post. I just moved into a new apartment and have a lot of weird/narrow spaces that I want to use/furnish but wasn't sure how. I can't believe how much you were able to put into that little hallway area and how much nicer/homier it looks as a result.

Ack, that wardrobe/storage bench is killing me! The detail... and the COLOUR! Perfect choice :)
Very inspiring Holly!

I'm about to move into a new place that has a long entrance hall like yours. I'm saving this post to my "new house ideas" file!

Really like the Style, a very warm welcome for guests. By the way: the guys from Octopus work exclusively with the Magazine Brigitte.
Have a nice weekend!

Wow, I absolutely love the hallway light there. I think it looks amazing. Where did you get it?

Hurray Holly! The hallway looks great. I love the tin boxes and the use of the large mirror it really opens up the space.

Holly - thank you for letting me know about the boxes. Unfortunately, making a quick run to Hannover isn't in the cards for me at the moment...since I am currently living in Texas. But, it is wonderful to know that they are a treasure that you found in a little shop in the old part of a European city...that makes them even more wonderful (and the discount and nice shopkeeper just add to the magic!) Thank you for taking the time to respond!

I would LOVE a bench like that. Does anyone know a place online where I could find a similar one?
I'm so enjoying the transformation of it all. It's coming together lovely.
I'm a huge fan of old/new and the mix of the modern kitchen with the Schrank is perfect.
I loved/laughed about the two tradesmen that put your kitchen together.
ps. i wanted to say i don't think you are doing it backwards at all with wanting to paper or paint, etc. i find it much more useful to live in a space, get a feel for how it works for you and then add, add, add.

Hi Holly,
now that I've seen the chairs you selected, I am in love with them for our own dining room! alas, the site is all in German, and I can't seem to figure out if they will even sell to customers out of the country. Any suggestions?
Thanks mucho!
Rachel (now settled happily in CA)
