{octopus is not my friend today}

i am ready to call octopus and explain to them what a nightmare it has been to order this bed and how very tired i am of receiving notices in the mail announcing the latest problem with my order. i purchased it from them on may 24 and it's july 16 and they promised the bed would ship out on july 25. i mean, my husband has called them multiple times... problems with payment, problems with delivery, problems, problems, problems. i planned to order more furniture from them but at this point, if the bed ever arrives, that will be THE FIRST AND LAST order from octopus. so today a notice arrives and it says how very sorry they are and blah blah blah and that my order has been delayed yet again for this and that excuse and will arrive middle to end of august. i arrive on 7 august! we specifically told them this when i placed the order back in may, that the bed must arrive before we do or else we will order from another company. they said no problem. my mattresses already arrived (i ordered them from amazon.de on monday!) and need to be placed on a frame. this is ridiculous. i will not suggest this company to anyone. it's been 8 weeks of notices, phone calls, and story after story of issues. i'm THIS close to canceling the order altogether. can anyone suggest an alternative resource in germany that sells this bed (180 x 200) or something like it? no footboard, only a headboard. thank you so much. :) sorry to vent... but Grrrrr.

I have no resources to suggest unfortunately, but if it were me, I would cancel the order immediately. Because there's no guarantee there won't be more problems in the future. With such an unprofessional company, imagine if there was a problem with the bed frame they eventually delivered? Good luck trying to get a refund or exchange. Save yourself more headache and move on now. Maybe amazon.de has bed frames?

oh thank you both so much. i know that bed from impressionen, they have a few that i like but they come in this ecru color and not pure white :( so i have to keep looking around...

I can imagine the trouble you had with octopus. I made a similar experience a few years ago with them. But - just take a look at impressionen.de - there you can find realy nice beds, too.

Well, if I had this kind of problem, I would cancel the order immediatelly as well. And I would maybe go just to Ikea instead :). You inspired me with your bed choice and I am going to customize my Ikea bed and make it look a little like the bed you´ve chosen. I hope you don´t mind.
Don´t worry about the matresses, they will be suitable for most beds, I guess.

Cancelling the order with Octupus is the only way. Why hurry with the bedframe and headboard? As long you have a matress you can sleep a few nights at the floor. Than when in Germnay, visit some local bed stores or the fleamarket. Shipping is still not very commong in Germnany.
So take your time. And Shopping is so much more fun....

I also thought about buying something from Octopus when I will move soon, but reading this - I think its better not to :-(

For another bed like this, try:

where you can search by material or designer. When I searched for "Stoffe" (=fabric) I saw some beds that resembled the one youve bought. But beware - some of the furniture on this site could cost several thousand Euros, but they also show cheaper options. Hope you are successful :-).

Sorry for my not so fluent english ...
Last year my brother ordered a bed from octopus – and it was the same story with him. If I remember it correctly, he had to wait more than half a year and they didnt give him a sconto or reduced price.

So, I too would recommend to cancel this order.

I have only visited decor8 up until now. Haus Maus is a fun little site. What an adventure!

I'm sorry to hear about Octopus... I have had so many customer service related problems in the last 5 years. The quality of service has declined. Octopus has so many legs, one wouldn't know which one to kick!

I hope it all works out!

Ther are always problems with Octupus. Late and wrong deliveries are quite normal. But on the other hand, they have nice stuff. "Impressionen" is a real alternativ. Their service is good. My wife often orders there ;)

Anon- Ha! That's the good part -- they didn't even send an email to let us know about the delay. They sent a postcard to our address in Hannover. This is after my husband talked to them on the phone telling them specifically that we are in America until August 7 and do not get our mail there. Lucky for us, my mother in law checked our mailbox and called us to read the postcard over the phone.
