Designachten Handmade Market in Hannover!
I'm so happy for shop owner and graphic designer Sandra Strübe who owns Sandras Kleinod in Hannover Linden because she and her business partner Iris Bendix initiated a handmade market here in Hannover that brings together handmade artists for a fun two-day shopping event called Designachten.
"Am 18. und 19. Dezember 2010 startet der erste Design-Weihnachtsmarkt unter dem Namen „Designachten“ in Hannover."
I love that she and Iris had an idea and just went for it -- this is great for Hannover -- especially for the emerging artists who may not have many opportunities locally like this before to show their work. Established artists benefit by taking part too, because then their loyal customers can meet them, spend time seeing their new collection and soak in the overall energy that a successful handmade market can bring. Getting people together who share a common goal - to do what they love, share, sell, and keep making, is just great! It also helps to grow the community here in Hannover, expose the general public to handmade arts & crafts that are fresh and modern, and to lower the wall that can exist when designers know of another designer but they may not have met officially before. The more artists stick together, support one another, create original designs and network the better for their own business and for those who love quality, handmade work!
Here is a list of participants from Hannover, Braunschweig, Hamburg, Berlin and Wien. In addition to shopping, there will be music too! Learn more here.
