Sushi, Normann Copenhagen + Macarons
I love Friday. And I love the weekend. I had such a great day today. I had a business meeting this morning for a Hannover-based project that I'm planning along with some local designers and I cannot wait until I can talk more about it but it's exciting stuff!
And I went for a fantastic sushi lunch at my new favorite sushi bar owned by a cute Japanese family. I felt so healthy and energetic after. Then I went to browse my favorite kitchen/cook shop called One Kitchen where I picked up a beautiful book called, "Zu Tisch" (Your Table) by Anna Klemm who lives in Bremen and is a lady I'd love to meet. She loves a feminine, ethnic style home with a cozy atmosphere and she's a photographer, author and illustrator. I tried to find a website for Anna and sadly, I cannot -- but I'd love to connect with her somehow since she lives so close to me!
I also picked up a pale gray Normann Copenhagen dust pan and brush that I've been wanting ever since I moved here but didn't want to have to pay a ton to have it shipped so when I saw it at One Kitchen today I scooped it up rather quickly.
After, I did something very, very bad... I went to the French cafe (the baker is from Paris) called Pâtisserie Elysée and had a small eclair and two macarons (which reminds me, I have to buy this book!) and then I walked around to work it off. :) It was nearly 70 and sunny today, the city was crowded and so many had an ice cream cone which is very typical here the moment it gets warm -- everyone goes to the eis cafe!
But now, the weather has changed. The sky is a scary shade of grey. The clouds are moving fast. It's very cinematic outside, I can almost see Will Smith storming down the street saying, "Get in your houses people!!!". It looks like the end of the world. And there is lightening. But this is typical Hannover weather. Always dress in layers, like an onion, and always, always, carry an umbrella.
Time to light some candles, make a cup of Kusmi tea, and listen to a little Sia.

It sounds like you both had a great day! I really enjoy hearing about your life in Germany, this is very interesting and fun.
Speaking of roller skating, my mother skated as a professional and also taught at a rink in Phila. in the 40's. I still have her skates! I think that it is great that you are starting up again. Enjoy!
