{ceiling medallions}

i am big on fancy trim, i love the details. ceiling medallions are gorgeous, but our apartment in germany is post war so we don't have transom windows, crown molding, soaring ceilings, or original hardware floors. and we don't have ceiling medallions. oh course, this is simply a vacation spot -- a second place to call home very part-time. so i can't complain because our rent is a steal and to have a chance to live in europe in the center of everything is just super amazing. so i think i'll do as hollywood does, fake it to make it. i'll install a few ceiling medallions to give my place a bit more detail. now i ask... what is the german word for ceiling medallions so i can google and find a dealer? i can't purchase them until i'm over there anyway since i need to first purchase my pendants and take measurements... or do these sell in the local home supply super store?

You'll find them in the local home supply stores and on the internet. We call them "stuckrosetten" for the ceiling. they also exust as elemant for walls and shelving support. I love them and would have put them everywhere but Markus seems to be a bit allergic when it comes to "faux stuck"!

Oh Holly, I love these medallions. We are constantly painting them for clients. We have a few of them on our online portfolio. You should give that a whirl.
Hi Holly,

Just had a quick peak at your ceiling roses. They are very common here in Europe. You would be able to find penty in homeware / DIY stores.

Also, do they have Laura Ashley in Germany, if so, she stocks them.

This is a great post! I have been looking to jazz up my new light. I bought a very simple medallion, and wish so much that I had searched harder for a cute one like these.

Hi Holly... I absolutely love "stuck" as we refer to it in my household... American woman (me) and German partner. Eleven years here now between Munich and Berlin.

I have searched high and low for reasonably priced molding... here is some things I have been able to find...

Do you want the molding to be made of plastic, styrofoam or plaster?

If you want plastic or styrofoam then visit your local hardware shop or Baumarkt like Obi.

This eBay shop also has a nice collection but I did not see Rosettes:

This online retailer has a huge collection of Plastic Moulding:

Finally, Villa Deco, has a really huge assortment of Plastic Moulding and rosettes:

A fantastic BERLIN Shop for PLASTER moulding (prices cannot be beat) would be:

Or this online retailer for PLASTER:

Hope that helps!

Another source is http://www.owtraditions.com. They sold us faux beams here in Europe...they could ship the medallions to Germany as well, I'd imagine.
