Relaxing At Home
I was out and about today, it felt good because I'd been home a lot this week and needed sunshine and a walk around. We walked about 2 miles down to the middle of the city and back again, had lunch, hit the flea market (I found nothing) and then came home and decided to put together the old iron bed from France that my friend Tinna gave to me on Monday (Thank you Tinna!).
She gave me this huge, thick piece of foam as a mattress and I cut it to fit the frame and then wrapped in fabric. I draped lots of textiles over it that I purchased in Morocco. On the back of the bed, which is really a day bed acting as a sofa/chill zone, there are lots of pillows though I need more to build it up before I show you. For now, I have created a chill zone on the 3 season porch off of our bedroom. I'm happy with it. I even spent a little time out there taking a few photos and reading a magazine. It's very warm (80F) and sunny - a great day for relaxing. Tomorrow it will be nice so I will relax a bit more on my porch. The room was completely empty before today so I'm glad I turned it into a little spot to enjoy until I find some furniture to mix in with the bed - and of course some big pillows for the back of the bed.
Today was nice. How about you? What did you do?

My son was invited to a birthday party this afternoon, so my husband and I took the opportunity to go out for coffee, do a little shopping and just spend some quality time together. It was perfect.
I do have a question though... I've been looking for a bed like that for the past few years... Can you/your friend suggest places to look? I'm in the Rheinland-Pflaz area of Germany & I'm perfectly willing to drive to France (or wherever) to get one.
Thanks in Advance!

Nice to see how the flat is evolving. Isn't that why we decorate- to create niches to actually enjoy living life? I know you've been crazy busy with the book and workshops but I've missed the haus maus posts. As another ex-pat (Berlin but soon bound for Berne) I really enjoy seeing how someone else carves out their world here. BTW, did you ever succeed in your in your hunt for your sofa over here?
All the best,
Stacy
