Latest Find: Oil Painting

Here is my latest find, I saw it at an antiques shop on the Lister Meile for a week in the window and kept thinking it belonged in MY home... So I went to claim my treasure last night. Here is an oil painting that's about 40 years old, so definitely vintage but not antique, and I find it lovely.

New Vintage Oil Painting

I love the tea time scene, it's cute especially for a couple of tea lovers like Thorsten and I.

Yes, I'm aware that it looks like something from a grandmother's house but that is why I love it so much -- I personally think it rocks because it reminds me of my grandmother Millie who passed on last year a few weeks before I relocated to Germany.

Ah... I have plans for my home, and though this painting was hung on the kitchen wall to simply show you how it looks, it will not be staying there for long.

I have big plans, people. ;)

I love that feeling of seeing something in a secondhand store that just says "I belong to your home". I have a cute little blue and white 1950s tripod sidetable with a drawer that did that for me. It was just sitting in amongst junky stuff saying "Look at me, I'm yours, please love me".

Holly, I just want to tell you that your photos have been looking amazing lately. That light in your place is absolutely incredible! I am jealous! :)

And I love to see all of the bits you're getting for your home. I'm so looking forward to seeing how you're piecing everything together...I love mixing old and new but there is definitely an 'art' to it, so I'm really interested to see how you're doing it. So far, everything looks fabulous!

I love it! I collect sweet little paintings like that one, and I don't care if people think they are grandma-(not so)chic. I can't get enough of them, and if we had been in that same store together, I do believe we would have had a rumble over that painting. :)
Oh that is a lovely oil painting, the frame is very decorate too. Sorry to hear about your grandmother but at least she is still here in your day to day thoughts and memories.

All things nice...

You inspire me so much Holly! I just bought two little tealight-holders for our home and it remind me of you... and this post. I only buy what I think really needs to be in our home. Need-to-be i say because sometimes I see something that I really like but it just doesn't fit with the rest of my stuff. Normally I think it over for a week or two and on the end I don't want it any longer... guess it doesn't belong to our home than! And it saves me money.
I love it, love that it spoke to you, love your reasons for loving it and love seeing snippets of your home as it goes along! ( and yes, I used love WAY to many times but, one can always use more...love. Right? ) :)

Hi! Great rugs that you've selected. I wouldn't have thought of Heine, because, as you said, their shots and overall presentation/look is quite ugly. And i didn't know benuta. Thanks!
So far, I bought my rugs at IKEA - that's probably not the tip you were waiting for ;-)
I also like this one, which was featured in Brigitte magazine:

By the way: Why do you have to pay for your damaged rug to be returned? i don't think so. It's a "Reklamation"; anyway, within two weeks of purchase you can return it without giving a reason. The price is definitely over 40 Euros, so IMPRESSIONEN will have to pay. Complain to them or get your husband to complain to them on the phone, if you don't feel up to it language-wise (?).
I really like your blog - and your taste.

I'm totally escaping my Danish homework by coming and seeing your latest posts! I love your oil painting! We are avid tea drinkers as well. We'll drink anything, but we just found some blueberry muffin tea that we cannot get enough of! Ok, I've slacked off enough. Back to my Danish! Hope you have a great week! Hugs!

What a wonderful and unique piece to find that is so meaningful to you. I can't wait to see how it all comes together. I have no doubt your home will look stylish and be a place that will feel as if it has evolved over time. I'm so happy for you that you can feel peaceful knowing your home in Germany is coming together at last.
