Gartenfestival Herrenhausen
Oh how I wish I could be in two places at once! Today begins the Gartenfestival Herrenhausen in Hannover and I'm so jealous of those who can be there to attend. My two friends, Petra who designs fashion and interiors accessories with an ethnic feel and Esra who designs beautiful jewelry, will have a tent there under the name Ranipink where they will sell their wares. If you love designs from Istanbul, Morocco, and Bombay you'll want to visit the Ranipink tent because everything they sell and create is from these beautiful & exotic locations. I love all of the flowers, food, and shopping at this event -- I want to be there!

The Herrenhausen festivals, at least the ones that have to do with gardening, food and shopping, take place twice a year, once in the Spring and the second in the Autumn. I've been to the Fall fest and it's so lovely but I heard the Spring one is even better and the weather promises to be lovely for the weekend. If you happen to travel to Hannover this weekend please look for my dear friends and the Ranipink tent and tell them hello for me, please! :) Also this year the festival will have a larger British section for those of you interested, do check that out and let me know how it is. I found some great tea cozies there last Autumn and some wonderful cookies and ceramics for the kitchen.

"The Great Garden (Herrenhausen built in 1666) has always been one of the most distinguished baroque formal gardens of Europe while the Berggarten has been transformed over the years from a simple vegetable garden into a large botanical garden with its own attractions. Both the Georgengarten and the Welfengarten have been made in the style of English gardens, and both are considered popular recreation areas for the residents of Hanover. The history of the gardens spans several centuries, and they remain a popular attraction to this day." - Wikipedia.
It's an enormous baroque garden and park in the city of Hannover that was built for the King of Hannover who was also ruling over England. The castle was destroyed during WWII by air raids, but thanks to the Volkswagen Foundation and the City of Hannover plans are set to rebuild after all these years. The Volkwagen Foundation will pay 20 million Euros to reconstruct the castle and will defray the annual costs involved. This is such great news, I'm very happy about this.

That's what I loved in Berlin, the city is full of trees and parks and little squares ! So refreshing !

Of course we´ll take lots of pictures for you to give you some impressions of this year. Our tent is the most colorful one and has its own oriental vibe I can tell..

Seeing the photos of the bed reminds me that I'd love to have an old wrought iron bed set up in a garden, near a big shade tree. Wouldn't that just be the perfect place to read and nap in the summer?
