{ikea hangover}
i cannot believe how many ikea pieces we've put together in such a small period of time and how much smaller our already tiny apartment looks now that it's filling up. :( but what can i expect with only a one bedroom apartment, right?
so for my husband, he purchased a table top in white with these cool new legs in white that wheel... and an alex drawer. for our wardrobe we purchased a huge pax with these glass doors and white sides/interior. for the entertainment center, we picked up the besta burs and I LOVE IT it is just like a high end designer piece for a fraction of the price and it is extremely well made. our white samsung tv looks great on it. :) we also purchased the kalstad sofa in white and put that together as well. our friends stopped by but they only put together the glass doors to the pax before they needed to leave for an appointment so thorsten and i did everything ourselves between yesterday and today. we also had errands to run and my lovely mother in law made us homemade dinner each day and some nice afternoon coffee and cake to keep us going. :) she is so cute...
i'm REALLY happy with our ikea purchases, i only wish the pax wasn't so huge and that my husband would have negotiated on a smaller one (i really wanted a vintage wood french closet in white) but i had to compromise and i'm a little upset about it but i think in the end the bedroom will look fine. truth is, i love my husband more than i love anything material so his feelings and needs are always going to take first place with me. he has been so kind to allow me so much freedom with the entire apartment decor and furniture, certainly i can compromise on a closet for him.
i think i will see little wood pegs dancing in my dreams tonight, or perhaps they will be swing dancing with wood screws? i don't think i ever want to see tools again after that pax. my god. what a puzzle that was. funny though, i loved putting everything together but i'm eager now to find more things for the house and keep going on this project so that i can sit on my sofa at night and relax without thoughts of 'what i need to do next' filling my head!
i will take a few photos tomorrow of the 'during' so you can see where we're at now with living room and bedroom. oh... we also put up the bedroom curtains so i can show you what those look like too. :)

however, it's probably the best closet I have ever had, there is literally a space for everything and everything in it's space. I LOVE that I can see everything!
I'm sure yours will fill up quickly - it's amazing how much stuff I'd shoved in my US built-in closets! All the linens, extra serving dishes, bulky sweaters, etc.
We built ours over a year ago now and were just talking yesterday about how we dread moving out and disassembling everything...gah!
Looking forward to pix!
Holly, good to know that you really "arrived" in your apartment ;-) I was last Tuesday in my studio, actually I am just on the way to H&M but I will be this Saturday working in my Studio, too ;-)
Now I have my dream of all vintage white armoires which I found on eBay - I can't wait for them to be delivered. Hubby agreed that Pax wouldn't fit into our new home which is 1860s built!
Maybe next time you can go vintage too?
Good luck in your furniture adventures, it is great reading about your finds Holly x

I am looking forward to this pics.
Have a nice weekend.
Bye,
Marianne.
Good work and I'm waiting for your photos. :))
I keep wanting to put something (wallpaper? wrapping paper? fabric?) on the inside of the glass, because it seems so cold, but nothing I've tried looks right. Are you planning to do anything, or just leave the glass alone? I need ideas. Maybe I'm just being silly, and the glass is fine as it is!
I really wanted the Best Burs, but we don't have any walls that are long enough! I think we're going to get the Anga instead. I'm really impressed with the quality of all of that new, gloss-white IKEA stuff.
(Yes, photos please!)
Leo siempre con ilusión tus posts, nunca me los pierdo; me interesa especialmente saber cómo quedará tu nuevo apartamento en Alemania.

I had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you don't mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing.
I have had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there.
I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost just trying to figure out
how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Appreciate it!
