{kitchen cuteness}
after writing about these ceramics cuties today over at real simple, i couldn't resist sharing them here since they are manufactured by rosenthal in germany.
it's funny to me how germans (at least in the northern region) can come across so serious and very conservative but then they have this playful side that is attracted to nutty comedy skits and word games, and when you get a beer or two into any german this happy-go-lucky side comes through ever more. they love a good laugh. some of the comedy shows on german television and even lots of very animated television hosts on regular shows display this joyous, happy side-- different than what you often get on the street. and you see it in their products from time to time as well.
the point of my ramble is that germans aren't so super serious after all. just look at these ceramic products for the kitchen. i heard that when vinilia designs from england met with rosenthal to pitch the idea of these fun little things, they instantly fell in love and invited them to work in their bauhaus studio (designed by walter gropius). the result?
pepe + friends.
here is the online shop for these cute ceramics by the way... i'm guessing you can find them all over germany in the big department stores, but for everyone else you can buy them directly from the designers in england (they ship all over the world) here at vinila designs.

No, seriously, I'm glad that they are getting there sense of humor out there. That way people will stop looking at me funny when I say I love that place.
I have some of them, and people always comment on them (in a good way!).
